Great for dusting wool oriental rugs.
(One clarification => I use the 12 inch vacuum with this brush for the 12, not the 16 inch.)
It's important with wool rugs to be able to "dust" the rugs from the back side to release the soil that gets inside of the fibers. You cannot get it all by vacuuming from the top side (and the bristles can be too abrasive on fibers if you vacuum often).
Sanitaire vacuums are long lasting, and give you what you need from the "top" side of you are a consumer, but for those of you in the professional cleaning arena, when you need to remove the pounds of grit and soil that gets embedded in these rugs before you wash them, this bar in the Sanitaire helps give you the vibration and shaking that helps to dislodge the soil by vacuuming slowly along the back of the rug to shake it out to the front.
