Filthy is GOOD!
The filter is absolutely filthy by the end of its cycle - a good thing. You need to first buy the rack the filters fit into, and getting the hang of "clicking" the filters in took some practice for my wife, but once you get the hang of it no problems. Hose off the filter rack if some dirt gets through this filter (we forget to change ours all the time).
