Just so exciting!
OK, not really. It's hard to get excited about a fry basket :p However, it's sturdy, well built, a good size, and has tabs to hold it on the rim of your pot....all good qualities in a fry basket. I would not hesitate to recommend this to someone looking to add the food group "grease" to their diet :D
cheap, low quality product
used five, six times. Metal start corroding, and became really soft, started breaking down. now it is trash, not useable. Looks like copper wire, covered with something. may not be food safe
Nice Size for Lodge Dutch Oven Frying
Hi, I used this in a Lodge 5qt Cast Iron and was pleased. The size is good enough for smallish breasts (blush), thighs, drumsticks, wings. I would say for whole splits you would have to smash it in, one at a time... so no go. A whole package of thighs from the store would in my estimation take an hour to cook in batches. Sturdy Construction.
Some tips:
1. Don't fill-up the whole way, cook with the basket half full for good control.
2. Wait about 5-6min between batches for the oil to return to high temp (over 300 at least).
3. Don't worry about cooking at full-blast high temp the whole time.
4. Having a Fry Thermometer is nice & handy. If not available just err on the side of longer time.
Affordable deep-fry combo.
