Strop powder for a clean fine edge
This is just what I wanted. My husband just started wood crafting and needed a strop to refine the edge on his carving tools. I found out about using this "dressing" on the strop through one of his books and was pleased to find it on Amazon at a great price. This works perfectly, was priced nicely for his needs and arrived very quickly.
Puts that last fine edge on carving tools
I got it to hone my chip carving knives. It makes a wonderful fine polished edge and is aggressive enough to do it with just a few strokes on each side. I use it last thing, after a 4000 grit stone. When the edge begins to dull a few licks on the strop and I'm good to go again. I use it in very small amounts, a pile about the size of a BB, and surprisingly it doesn't fall off the strop once it is worked in. I use it on a Wood Is Good rubber strop Wood Is Good WD400 Small Hone Strop to hone my carving tools. It works well on an ordinary leather strop too. I use a Lansy sharpener on my knives Lansky Deluxe 5-Stone Sharpening System. Lansky has a leather storp add on and this powder does a great job on that to put the final touches on the edge after the 3000 grit saphire stone. Great stuff and inexpensive too.
Strop powder
The white powder is great for honing an edge or finishing off a new blade. I've used jewelers rouge in the past and wasn't too sure about the Strop powder. I use a straight edge to shave and didn't know that the strop wasn't treated. So needless-to-say after a while the blade was like a butter knife. I purchased the powder and am now able to shave with it again. I've also used it to edge some fine blades for precision crafts and even blades I use to throw and in hide tanning. Simply put I like it and it isn't expensive. A little powder has gone a long way. I wish it wasn't made with aluminium, but overall I think it is a good product especially for the price.
